Star India is reported to be rebranding Life Ok with a new look and name it Star Bharat. The channel, scheduled to launch on August 15, will have a modern outlook with an Indian feel, according to media reports. This is the second time the network is looking to rebrand the channel. Earlier in 2011, Star One was relaunched as Life Ok.

In 2016 Star India had revamped the programming line-up of the channel but, from the looks of it, the revamped programming strategy did not work.

According to reports most of the old shows like May I Come in Madam, Sher-E-Punjab, Ranjeet Singh, and Chandrakanta will go off air while Savdhan India and Ghulam will continue in Star Bharat. The channel is reported to also bring in new shows like Ayushamaan Bhava, Kya Haal Paanchal and Shatranj.

Shatranj, produced by Shakuntalam Telefilms, is supposed to be an Indian adaptation of Netflix’s iconic show House of Cards. Meanwhile Kya Haal Paanchal, by Optimystic Productions, is themed on polygamy and Ayushamaan Bhava is said to be a TV adaptation of Govinda starrer Hatya.

Star Bharat will launch with an extravagant musical show.

Star Network had launched Star One in 2004 with urban and youth based shows and created many popular shows like Khichdi, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhi, Nach Baliye and The Great Indian Laughter Challenge. It didn’t have a great run as it went through a lot of programming changes and finally got rebranded as Life Ok in December 2011.

Star Bharat…the name uncannily finds semblance with the rising nationalist sentiment in the country. Star Bharat, which seems to cater to the desi sentiments of the masses, will replace the identity of Life Ok.

Life Ok, as a channel was an attempt by Star Network to lend freshness to Indian television content. It was meant to be a platform to experiment. It had its birth post wrapping up of Star One and after a rather baffling programming philosophy, is set to breathe its last in the coming days.

Life Ok will enter the realms of history soon, giving birth to Star Bharat, most expectedly on 15 August (2017). All its current airings will meet its end, barring Savdhaan India and Ghulam.
