I’m using my Sony BRAVIA KDL-32EX520 with Tata sky HD Plus sine long time. While using this two different device I need to use two different remote. Most of time my parents & my sister only use Tata sky remote, and because of this most of time they left TV switch on for quite long time unnecessary while keeping Tata sky stb in standby. It was waste of scarce Indian electricity. And cause increase in bill. I thought to buy universal remote so that both my TV and stb goes in standby when it not in use and get some reduction in electricity bill.
I heard about Logitech universal remote since quite long time I also check my device compatibility list from there website and brought harmony 200
I got my remote three days after order which is quick. it's come with two Duracell battery one small usb cable and harmony 200 remote
though remote size is similar harmony 200 buttons are small and close to each others .
I quickly unbox it connected it to my windows 8 pc. Run IE visit there site install required plugin and ready to configure the device.
Most of people says device configuration is quick and easy. Yes it was but only for ppl how know how to use pc very well. As most of the button which are important are left unassigned during device setup.
I need to manually setup some button like Plan. Organiser it's not so difficult but required some basic understanding for PC and remote.
IR transmitter in back side of remote instead of top so if u place remote on floor remote it won’t work
The main reason I brought this remote so i can use this remote to turn on/off on both device simultaneously with pressing only one button. The Watch TV button do that. But there is some flaw in it. As u know stb took at least 20 sec to turn on if u switch off from main power. So if u press watch TV button immediately or after 3-5 second after turn on main power supply only TV get on. And STB remain off. And if u press Watch TV button again it turn off TV and switch on stb
This happen even while turn off device. Some time TV remain on or STB vice versa. Which is insane.
So sometime I need to manually set remote to TV or cable to turn on or turn off device.
Apart from that. Volume control and mute button only work on TV Whatever the remote is set. So we need to set default high volume in STB so u can adjust volume or mute from TV itself.
Finally coming to conclusion I have mix felling about this remote as Watch TV button not work properly sometimes. Also because of location IR transmitter of remote. I need to pick up the remote if it’s on floor for simple command like mute unmute.
