I also tried COD few years back (my first order) i took the parcel paid him then opened the item in front of him & then only signed...
That's what should be done, atleast everything will happen in front of delivery boy....otherwise Company may simply blame the customer which happened in the case of Flipkart few days back......In that case customer ordered again, recorded everything in front of delivery boy & posted the video on Youtube.

I thing it's better to check with CC before ordering & confirm with them that money will be paid to delivery boy only after checking the product.

This is like 2-way thing....On one hand powerful e-tailer or dealer may send a brick to the customer deliberately. In this case customer will have to fight & prove to the e-tailer that he has been fleeced. Here e-tailer can easily blame the customer directly or indirectly to avoid rsponsibility.

As far as I understand, legally e-tailers are acting just as a platform for connecting a dealer with a customer as direct e-tailing is not allowed in India.

So legally an e-tailer can easily escape by simply blaming a customer or asking him to deal with dealer directly. Of course there is mechanism like protection offered by e-tailers to convince customers in some cases.

On the other hand, customer may thrash delivery boy, snatch the consignment & even beat him up.
But here all this would happen within the premises of the customer so its easy for e-tailer or dealer to track him.

In all these possibilities, its very much likely that customer could get conned easily which has happened many times because most of the times payment is made before the shipment is done.

E Retailers are median between Customer and Company and if some fault happen then Company will blame the Retailer and Retailer will blame to Customers.

This is the 1st case and there has to be a tamper proof packing. And I don't think other than mobile such things will happen.

Are these reports really genuine? I have so far ordered so many things from these e-tailers, but never faced such an issue.
Yes, I have ordered lot's of things from online, but never face this type of issue. I am a regular visitor on Baniyadeals.com where I got lot's of best deals on every day and every hour.
