Tata Sky’s Christmas Ad is a Testament to India’s Unity in Diversity

The idea of a festival is that it should be celebrated by people of all communities, though there are places, where celebrating Christmas is barred. For example, according to several reports in Brunei, people (especially Muslims) wearing Santa caps would be either put in prison or fined.

Now, India is no Brunei, and Tata Sky, a key player in the country's DTH market, has taken a unique approach to prove India's communal unity further. The brand has come up with a 'Christmas Surprise' film where three Muslim musicians are seen playing 'Silent Night', 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer,' ending with 'We Wish You A Merry Christmas'.

It is a delightfully executed film with no words and only instrumental music. The film is designed and executed by Ogilvy and Mather.

Speaking on the video, Malay Dikshit, Chief Communication Officer, Tata Skyshares that there was no strategy driven objectives behind the film. "We wanted people to pause for a minute, relax and wish them at this time of the year. The brand aims to spread the message of peace, harmony and love among the people," adds Dikshit.

Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman and Creative Director, South Asia Ogilvy & Mather India added that the brief for the campaign was to create a message for people. "Tata Sky has given an ongoing brief and there will be more campaigns on the similar lines where the message of goodwill, harmony, peace and love will be disseminated. Over the years, Tata Sky has established itself as a responsible brand and it aims to carry that legacy with it," shares Pandey.
