this looks like intentionally planed by videocon d2h ,to push customers beyond recharge dates on "current REMOVED packages" being forgetting the last date as no reminders going to be happen.
So automatically the package will be disconnected after recharge date, once that is happened then d2h could be planning to ask customers select the package(from latest modified) newly again while recharging.

So better way whoever(existing customers) has been using GOLD HD,GOLD SPorts HD etc (so called removed packages now) they either do LTR or don't forget to recharge prior to recharge date if doing MTR.So can continue the current benefits as no HDs added for last 2 years.
IM bro also noted same point earlier.

Such way can nullify the option of getting shifted towards Platinum HD forcefully.[ till the time new HD channels are added]
