The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) is planning to hold an open house meeting (OHM) with representatives of multi-system operators (MSOs) every Tuesday from 11 am to 12 noon. The first such meeting is scheduled to take place on 6 May. The meeting will be held by director (BP & L) in the MIB with the main objective of bringing transparency and accountability to the MSO registration process, providing a forum for applicants to track the status of their applications and clarifying the MSO application process to prospective applicants. The meetings are open to all those applicants/MSOs who have already applied for MSO registration and those who wish to apply. Only authorised representative of the MSOs will be allowed to participate in the OHM. The meeting comes in the wake of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asking the MSOs to provide the details of the company and its directors in order to get the requisite security clearance. The MHA had issued an additional format to the MIB in which the details have to be provided for grant of security clearance for MSOs. “All those existing MSO applicants who are applying now to the ministry for grant of registration are required to furnish the details as per the format enclosed herewith in addition to Form 6 and Form 2. Incomplete applications will not be entertained for process of registration,” the MIB had stated. The two additional forms are for details of company (name of firms/bidders, address of incorporation and date of incorporation) and details of directors and key executives (name, parentage, date of birth, present position and complete address).
