Microsoft today announced it has sold 60 million licenses of Windows 8 just two months after its general availability. The figure includes upgrades and sales to OEMs for new devices, which means the total user base would be lower than 60 million. Microsoft says that the numbers are similar to what they had witnessed after the launch of Windows 7.

The company also announced that the number of apps have quadrupled since the Windows Store opened. The Store also crossed the 100 million mark since the operating system became available to consumers roughly two months ago.
