Microsoft starts offering free Windows 10 update in piracy-ridden China

Microsoft Corp is making its biggest push into the heavily pirated Chinese consumer computing market this summer by offering free upgrades to Windows 10 to all Windows users, regardless of whether they are running genuine copies of the software.

The move is an unprecedented attempt by Microsoft to get legitimate versions of its software onto machines of the hundreds of millions of Windows users in China. Recent studies show that three-quarters of all PC software is not properly licensed there.

Terry Myerson, who runs Microsoft's operating systems unit, announced the plan at the WinHEC technology conference in Shenzhen, China.

It would be great if Microsoft offers free upgrades to Indian users............regardless of whether they are running genuine copies.........................

But free upgrades should be for lifetime........not just for the first year................

If Microsoft is offering free upgrade to Chinese users just because of numbers.............that because three-quarters of all PC software is not properly licensed in China, then Indian users might need to consider increasing their own numbers also..............

Btw has Chinese govt started thinking of banning Windows 10 also..................just like they banned Win 8...............because of security reasons...............

Rest regarding free upgrade in India I don't think so they will give anything for free rather then they will seek the opportunity to buckle it with some offer.
