Moeen Ali wore wristbands declaring his support for the population of Gaza, while batting in the third Investec Test. This has not gone down well with the International Cricket Council (ICC), which has banned the England all-rounder from wearing the wristbands.

Moeen's extra clothing featured the slogans 'Save Gaza' and 'Free Palestine' when he came out to bat on Day 2 of the ongoing Test match against India at Southampton.

Moeen risked disciplinary action under the ICC Code of Conduct, which forbids players wearing, displaying or conveying messages through arm bands or other items on clothing or equipment without prior approval. Messages related to political, religious or racial activities or causes are not allowed.

"The ICC Equipment and Clothing Regulations do not permit the display of messages that relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes during an international match," an ICC statement said.
