But news channels in HD makes no sense. People don't watch news channels for look and feel. Moreover expecting all field reporters to be provided with HD cameras will be a costly affair. Yes studio recordings can come in HD

Dedicated News channels in HD are not there in International market as well but in India we have a theory that 16:9 resolution can't be provided by SD channels hence even broadcasters are ready to fool people.
