CDMA operator MTS India will shut its operations in UP East circle from Wednesday, sending in disarray over 1.5 lakh subscribers. They are now left with no other option but to port out to any other telecom operator of their choice.
Confirming this, an official of the company said that it had already informed its subscribers about the closure of operations well in advance and this was not something which would caught them off-guard.
The closing down of the operations of the Sistema Shyam TeleServices India Ltd (SSTL), which provides the CDMA service under the MTS brand name will affect major cities including Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Sitapur, Varanasi and Allahabad. The telecom operator's service will stop in these areas after April 10 midnight. The company however would continue its operations in UP West and Uttarakhand circle that comprises major cities like Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Nainital and Dehradun.
