The Muslim community has registered a moderate 0.8 per cent growth to touch 17.22 crore in the 10-year period between 2001 and 2011, up from 13.8 crore, while Hindu population showed a decline by 0.7 per cent at 96.63 crore during the period, according to the latest census data on religion.

While the census figure on religion was released on Tuesday, more than four years after compilation of the data, the caste data is yet to be made public.

I am happy that Hindus are curtailing & following family planning ... 1 or 2 child with better life, education & most important right value !!! but the imbalance is disturbing !!! Few political parties would be very happy by the result ... just for their vested interest they are creating bottle neck & chocking development of the country !!! Pappu & Pappu ma would be celebrating the result with their allies !!
