somewhere i read even if boxes are in standy, the electricity consumption is marginally reduced, so it's better to switch off the stbs when you are not using to avoid high bill.

That is why i have asked for an idea of consumption

My All Three Boxes always remain in standby mode and i watch only one box at a time.

Can u please tell me how much these three DTHs take electricity in standby and active mode also.

I have no idea about the Power consumption on Standby Mode. u can check in User Mannual. Most of the time they r mentioning in Specifications page.

According to the study done by NRDC (National Resources Defence Council) suggests that high end set top boxes with hd and dvrs can consume more electricity than energy deficient refrigerator if they are not switched off from the plug point. Even in standby mode, these stbs consume electricity when the consumer is neither watching a show nor record it.

Stb in India typically consume between 18 watts to 50 watts. Sd stb consumes lowest 18 watts per day to hd dvr highest 50 watts per day.
