Cast: NTR, Rakul Preet Singh, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad,
Director: Sukumar
Music: Devi Sri Prasad
Producer: BVSN Prasad
Not bogged down by the failure of One Nennokadine, Sukumar attempts yet another food-for-thought film. This time with NTR. With the film happens to be Tarak’s 25th movie and the movie slugging it out with his Baabayi Balakrishna at the ticket windows, all eyes are on Nannaku Prematho. In addition to this, reports are rife that political parties have divided across the lines on Nannaku Prematho and Dictator making this Sankranthi’s Box Office battle more interesting.
Plot: Abhiram (NTR), one of the three sons of Ramesh Chandra Prasad alias Subramanyam (Rajendra Prasad), vows to bring down the empire of business tycoon Krishnamurthy (Jagapathi Babu) who had cheated his dad. In this mission, Abhiram falls for Krishnamurthy’s only daughter Divyanka (Rakul Preet). How Abhiram won his love and took revenge forms the story.
Analysis
Director Sukumar tried his best to correct the mistakes he did during One-Nenokkadine. Yes, he did correct them while making Nannaku Prematho. But in this process, Sukumar made new mistakes. Paying attention to minute details is welcome move. But Sukumar ends up paying attention to unnecessary details and misses important logics in the film.
One doesn’t understand why Divyanka has no security despite the fact that she is the only successor to billionaire Krishnamurthy and she owns 40% stake in her dad’s company. One could easily spot that even such a billionaire’s house doesn’t have a power backup. Poor. When Divyanka got abducted by a bunch of goons, she doesn’t suspect Abhiram and in fact, falls for him for saving her life.
Barring all these, there are few good moments in the film making it watchable. Climax portion is good as NTR gets emotional. Director Sukumar’s brilliance in few scenes deserve special appreciation. Picturesque locations and good camera work make Nannaku Prematho technically high film. Throughout the movie, NTR’s action is flawless. Though Rakul’s dubbing is not so music to ears, she is easy on eyes. Her looks, glam quotient appeals.
The biggest stumbling block is giving too much importance to unnecessary details and giving less or no importance to basic points. On whole, Sukumar-NTR’s Nannaku Prematho becomes a Logicless Logic film. Wait, if you’re preparing to watch the movie, don’t forget to carry a note book into theatre as ‘Lecuture’ Sukumar gives you wisdom on Maths (Calculations), Physics (Electrons) and Chemistry (Estrogen and etc).
