I think u should read the Dish TV updates . All HD Channels in DVBS2 MPEG4 itself.

to come on point amny hd channel too can b run in 16:9 in demodulated sd format. like currently u can see trace sports hd being run as a sd channel in airtel in 16:9 aspect ratio. they can also run it in letter box format like movies now and other hd channels r being run for sd customers in airtel

Now where is your basic knowledge Dino Bhai. You always question about our Basic Knowledge. In d2h all channels are downlinked on customer STB as MPEG 4 format. Because it depend upon dth operator in which compression format they uplink fron their Uplinking Station and same format is received at Customer End.

BTW Differance in HD and US HD is for people like us who browse Forums but others r not much known and intrested in this. i have seen both HD and US HD . A US HD channel is far better than the same SD channel sure. this is my personal experiance only and may differ person to person.

Movies Now is primarily a HD channel but to facilitate SD customer all DTH Operators downgrade it at their end and provide to us. It has nothing to do with Broadcaster. Its broadcasting format is being decided by DTH operator only.
