Not only the residential areas, but even the hospital premises are becoming a breeding ground for the mosquitoes. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Wednesday has issued challans to four government hospitals - AIIMS, RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital - as they found mosquitoes breeding at these establishments. The National Capital has so far reported 277 confirmed cases of the vector-borne disease in 2015 with two deaths.

"We have issued challans to four hospitals, namely AIIMS, Safdarjung Hospital, RML Hospital and Lady Hardinge Hospital after their premises were found to be breeding ground for mosquitoes," a senior NDMC official told MAIL TODAY. The Union ministries of finance and home affairs, Bihar Bhawan, Sikkim Bhawan and Uttarakhand Bhawan have also been issued notices by the Council. NDMC has found mosquito-breeding conditions in the embassies of Ghana, Ethiopia, Singapore, Malaysia, Bhutan, Ethiopia and the Czech Republic. However, no challans have been issued to them.

"We do not have the authority to conduct any check in the embassy premises. After obtaining permission from these five embassies we had sent our inspection team to test suspected mosquito breeding on their campuses but the protocol doesn't permit us to issue any challan or notice to them," the official added.
