Deepu acknowledged your budget constraint , I will suggest you look at 32inch models as @ the price point mentioned by you there are no good TV's from trusted brands in the 40" category.
I suggest you look at the following sets priced between 25k - 30k

Samsung 32F5500
Panasonic 32SV6D
Full HD is not a factor for TV's below 42" as you will not notice the difference between 720p and 1080p

Bro I must say Sony PQ is no where compare with other Brands.You will get original colours with Sony.LG also 2nd option which is having more Vivid colours. If The DTH is good you will get good vivid colours in SD channels too.But I never suggest Samsung which is giving very pale kind of colours.
Even I like Sony bro, because I have been using it for last 3 years with no issues what so ever. At present, I don't have any intention of going with private DTH operator for this TV. Only DD Free Dish & FTA channels

Samsung is cheaper than Sony. Try out Samsung too.
I don't know anyone working in Samsung to get discount. For Sony, I get good discount as my cousin works as Admin in Sony Software division

If so then go for Sony only bro. Try for some older models for a better discount.
Even if I get 40% discount, Sony 40" LED TV price would come to 36K, which I feel is costly
