Smartflix is in beta and it is free until they are out of beta. Netflix subscription is mandatory to access Smartflix.

No. Smartflix just helps you to play Netflix content from any region. Instead of using/paying for smart DNS or VPN's to switch Netflix regions, you can use Smartflix to access content from any Netflix region. They have built in some kind of smart vpn in the app to stream the titles from other regions if the title is not available in your home country.
