I think compression technology do effect the PQ.
My two reasons are,
1, All dth are compresing hard but those with mpeg4 are having better PQ.
2, As mpeg 4 creates more space, same number of channels on different tps with different compressions i.e, mpeg 2 and mpeg 4, the PQ of mpeg 4 will be better, as more space remain on the same tp.
Its my personal view.

Compression do affect PQ but when compressed beyond a certain defined level.

Try it with a photograph and you can understand how it works.

Yeah tats what my point irshadkhan Bro. we can't ignore compression method.

Right now dishtv having providing good PQ to those SD TPs which containing 22 to 23 channels and some TPs which having 25 to 27 channels having worst PQ.

Yes you are right compression beyond a certain level effects the quality. But the levels for mpeg2 and mpeg4 are different. So I think with mpeg4, less compression will be required to accomodate the same amount of channels then that of mpeg2.

Most of the FTA channels are having better PQ then that of MPEG 4 because they are not compressed hard. This means both the amount of compression applied and compression technology have an effect on PQ.

Whether its MPEG4 and MPEG2, compression as per their standard will give better quality but if you find the quality not upto the mark then definately extra compression is being done on the content.

Not to forget Broadcasters also have compression policy if you're cable wala and provides the feed of India TV then you need MPEG 4 based decoder of that channel. India TV PQ is awesome in all DTH even if they won the slot of DD they will remain awesome.

Picture quality of SD channels are not that bad actually apart from few channels.

Yeah Channels like Sudarshan TV, India TV PQ are bas from source itself.

However India TV PQ has improved a lot. Watching Aap Ki Adalat and its PQ is awesome.
