The price of non-subsidised cooking gas (LPG), which consumers buy beyond the cheaper quota of six cylinders, was on Thursday hiked by Rs 26.50 to Rs 922 per unit on firming international rates.

The 14.2-kg cooking gas cylinder that consumers buy beyond their entitled six bottles at subsidised rates, will now cost Rs 922, up from Rs 895.50 in Delhi, according to Indian Oil Corp, the nation's largest fuel retailer.

The government had in September restricted the supply of subsidised domestic LPG cylinders to six per household in a year.

For a 16.1KG cyliner, i am paying SR.17/- which includes of the home delivery charge of SR.1/. Converting it to INR, it costs me around 230/-INR per cylinder. Although there is no imports here; its really odd to see the price of a cylinder at 1000/-. :(
I heard many back home, in Kerala are planning to set-up a temporary kitchen where they can use 'lakdi' and other means.... And the central government is eventually will eliminate the subsidy system on all commodities...

in kuwait, the cost was o.500 fils until 2004. Now its 0.750 fils from a filling station or 1 KD in a bakala
1KD, yes i believe its about 190/-rs. Also, the weight got to be checked. Also, kuwait seem to have good gas reserves.

so LPG gas should be used with care, no use of buying induction stove if there is power crisis in TN,
So, the traditional and solar panels have to be used

Following stiff opposition towards New Petroleum Minister and Elections ahead, Govt has put a hold on the price hike.

Now, we will continue this Drama of Hike & Hold as many more election are ahead.
