After launching 6TV last year, Hyderabad-based LCGC Broadcasting India is launching another Telugu news channel for the newly created state of Telangana. The new channel will be called 6TV Telangana. Earlier, Eenadu Television had launched a news channel for Telangana. 6TV Telangana will be unveiled at American Telugu Convention on 3 July, followed by an official launch in Hyderabad by July end or first half of August. The test signals for the free-to-air (FTA) channel have started. However, distribution deals are yet to be finalised. LCGC Broadcasting is also planning to enter the Kannada market besides launching a Telugu business news channel, revealed 6TV promoter Suresh Reddy. However, the timelines for launching the two channels have not yet been firmed up. While Reddy remained tight-lipped about the investments, a senior company official said that the company has earmarked around Rs 35 to 50 crore (Rs 350 to 600 million) for launching channels which also include 6TV and 6TV Telangana.
