It's bad that price is hiked instead of reducing if we consider international price. It is said that taxes & duties on petro products in India are amongst the highest in the world.

Kindly don't forget the current got has been consistently trying to bring fuel prices down...This hike is because of excise duty is hiked.

The only worrying thing is govt's habit to earn money for budgetory purpose from selling stake in NavRatna cos & from taxes/duties on petro products. This is going on since last decade, atleast this is what I understand.
So this has become like a cash cow for govt....
Now also govt could have reduced the prices as indicated in some of yesterday's news. But it seems, at last moment gove decided to hike duty to earn more money, may be due to fact that prices were reduced few days back.....
