Providence-backed Shop CJ mulling Southern-language shopping channels

The rechristened Shop CJ Network, an equal joint venture between Providence Equity and Korea’s CJ O Shopping, is evaluating plans to launch regional-language home shopping channels in South India. While nothing has been finalised yet, the company is looking with great interest at the Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada markets. “Yes, we do have plans to launch three channels in South India but it is not yet finalised. We are considering it because these are big markets,” Shop CJ Network CEO Kenny Shin told TelevisionPost.com.

Does that mean they would show entertainment program also to keep viewers hooked to the shopping channel....:woot:

it means we would see some dramas so that it would promote the products. The American way is like that of abcrunch and teleshopping.
