The Punjab government on Tuesday issued a notice saying that people will now have to pay tax for having domestic animals. There are two slabs in the new tax.
The notice stated that Rs 250 per year has to be paid as tax for dog, cat, pig, sheep, deer etc. For buffalo, bull, camel, horse, cow, elephant; the amount has been finalised at Rs 50o annually.
The Amarinder Singh government said that “branding code”, identification mark or number to be given to each animal on microchip installed in the animal.
