Reliance Jio gets MSO licence

[THAKUR]

Reliance Jio Media has received MSO licence from the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB).

“We received provisional MSO licence yesterday evening,” a source confirmed. Mukesh Ambani-controlled Reliance Jio Media had applied for an MSO licence to the MIB in January.

Subsequently, the application was sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for security clearance on 2 February.

The company has planned a fibre-to-the-home arrangement to offer television channels to consumer homes.

Though the business architecture of this is under wraps, it is widely known that the overall plan is to be a formidable quad-play service provider.

Reliance Jio Media has already hired two former CEOs of leading cable companies to spearhead the venture.

K Jayaraman, who led Hathway Cable & Datacom’s growth as the country’s largest multi-system operator (MSO), is the CEO of Reliance Jio’s MSO business.

SN Sharma, who as CEO rapidly built DEN Networks as the second-largest MSO, is also part of the top leadership team. Await detailed report…

Looks to me these guys will be game changers

They can give tough fight to Hathway

They can give tough fight to Hathway

Agree

And to dths too

So Reliance Jio is all set to offer Digital Cable TV services...............

And with big mens from both hathway and DEN leading this new MSO, it will have the added advantage as it will be a mixture of both hathway & Den
Also as a its got a pan India MSO license it will not be far when small MSO will be taken over by this one. Other Digital MSO will have to be well prepared.

As for DTH, off course they will be affected in a big way. They have to be ready to loose customers. Digital MSO will not loose customers as the services they provide are same.

[Music Fan]

Hope they add some more channels on its digital TV dth

[DashMajor]

Looking forward to it

I think Reliance Jio will kill the competition by offering broadband and digital TV at dirt cheap rates and will then rule the Indian market. They failed with mobiles few years back and again with DTH following later but this time their preparation is much stronger and the game is in Mukesh' hands ..
