Actually, yes, as a HD customer, the current number of channels (in dishtv) are not enough for me. We're not getting many HD channels at this point compared to other countries. I don't mind paying over Rs. 2,000 per month for more than 100 HD channels with 5.1 sound. That is the point of having a High Definition television. It is supposed to be for HD channels.

We're lagging behind in HD while the World is moving to UHD.
Are you quite sure the World excepted UHD properly ? Broadcasting content in 16:9 doesn't mean other Countries having more HD channels then India, this stupidity of 4:3, 16:9 will continue here in India. Rest in world even in US and tat too from FOX are still in 720p or lesser then that.

No, this isn't about the ratio, we have Movies Now+ and Movies Now both in 16:9, the former is HD and latter is SD. Picture quality is what matters, and that should be 720p or at least 1080i. Not to mention 4:3 is completely useless to watch on HDTV.

As of today, there are 168 HD channels in USA, and 38 of those are broadcasted in 720p, the rest in 1080i. Where are we compared to that? It's like we're getting started with HD, just like the West is getting started with UHD. By the time we manage to reach 100 HD channels, rest of the World will be enjoying UHD.

All I'm saying is it's time for Indian mass media companies to boost up the number of HD channels, that is what the viewers need. It's not like we don't have resources.

We're growing rapidly in both division and smart operators even well downscaling HD channel into SD for money. I think in next 1 year we will have many downscaled HD channels just to suck our money.
