Yes, Shanti was the first ever serial that was run on weekdays in the afternoon. DD introduced this concept.It was later followed up with a beeline of afternoon weekdays serials that began running from 1pm to 4pm (though don't remember exact time)-Swabhiman, itihaas, yug etc .

The prime time concept as it exists now of 7 to 11pm came later with Kyunki Saas Bhi on Star plus..Earlier the prime time band was meant to air special shows, not serials.Serials for womenfolk (as they are being made today) were limited to the afternoon band.

the reason i remember was my mom used to watch it and would not allow to play video games during those hours.
