The Supreme Court has sought response from Prasar Bharati over the feasibility of launching a separate channel to broadcast India's cricket matches during the World Cup. Prasar Bharati will have to submit its reply by Thursday.

Star India which has the exclusive right to telecast the World Cup matches, sharing its feed with Doordarshan. While Star India charges Rs 18 per subscriber, DD enables a free telecast. In turn, cable operators take feed from Doordarshan for free causing a huge revenue loss to Star India.
