SITI Cable, which is owned by the Essel Group, has also requested approval from shareholders for the increase of authorized share capital, to authorise the board of directors to create charges or mortgages in respect of borrowings and to issue equity shares or securities convertible into an equity share of up to US$100 million.

Speaking in May, Subhash Chandra, chairman, SITI Cable, stated: "The cable television industry in India is rapidly changing with the visible signs of progression towards the complete digitalisation. The television viewers are getting familiar with inherent advantages of digitisation through cable, digital cable is playing an instrumental role in digitisation.
