According to a study by Taiwan scientists, the overuse of smartphone could lead to cataract.
A report which has appeared in FocusTaiwan, says Taipei based Ho Yi-tao who runs an eye clinic has found that there has been increase in cataract patients between 30 and 50 years. He says the overuse of mobile phones, after the use of computers at work is to blame for this. This is because continuous staring at screen results in fatigue and premature aging of the eyes. In Taiwan, 40 percent of people aged over 65 are suffering from cataracts, said Taiwans’ central news agency.

Last year a study published in the Journal of Vision, said that staring on phone screen for long hours cause strain in eyes and hurts head. The problem could lead to the visual discomfort, headaches and fatigue that come from staring at a small screen or stereo 3D device for too long, said this study . Earlier researches have pointed out that constant concentrating on computer screen and smaller screens cause dryness in the eye and may cause problems. In such a case people working on computers and small screens should blink their eyes more often so that suggested that a way to protect eye from getting dry. It is also advisable to take a quick time-out of 15-2o seconds every 20 or 30 minutes.
