Sony PAL to shut on 13 February?

Sony PAL, the new GEC from MSM, which went on air from 1 September 2014, as per sources, is all set to shut shop on 13 February 2015.

The channel launched with a bouquet of new shows but never managed to gain momentum in the TRP race.

Shows were pulled off air in a jiffy and since quite some time there have been speculations of the channel being pulled off air.

Now, the inevitable has finally happened and as per our credible sources, the channel will shut on 13 February.

The makers of current ongoing shows have been informed about the development and they have been asked to air their last episode on the above mentioned date.

When we buzzed channel head Anooj Kapoor, he said, “Currently, I am drafting a press release and you all will come to know about it tomorrow morning.”

Who will watch Sony SAB n PAL in this HD world...!!they should have brought SAB HD prior to PAL SD.

Same mistake they are doing with MAX HD.It will be late for them to gain momentum as Zee leading with 2 HD Hindi Movie channels there.
It's good to come late in HD crowded category(as like PIX HD) however think of people and need of time..marketing strategy comes later..More on contents matter.!!!

We see great lead and strategy executed by Zee in case of @Pictures HD.Very early they added HD feed and now putting Hollywood in Hindi ...HBO Premum HDs and rest of old Eng Movie HDs already feeling the heat.

same things will happen to newly launching SD channels from here..!!!

HD infact 4K is the need of time still we are short running with total number of HD channels game planed by all DTH and broadcasters despite using HD DVRs/STBs more than 4 years.Quite strange.

Current need of 4K & HD customers: with no Pkg price increase further.....otherwise Sab Golmal Hai..!!!
- min 5 4K UHD channels need to be there, should increase to 10+ by end of this year.
- 50 HD channels should be targeted by max broadcaster till end of next quarter and same should be reflected in all DTHs

I think Sony should have launched a channel which reruns old serials which were there on Sony like Rishtey is showing old serial of colors and so is Star Utsav and Zee Anmol

Finally Sony has come into sense of shutting down the channel rather than keep it on air for monetary losses. Tillu, you are thinking of way ahead, i am sure in the next two years maximum of three UHD channels only would be on air as it is not financially viable for the broadcasters, content distributors and customers.

Even a Broadcaster like Sony couldn't sustain now. This must be a wakeup call for broadcasters to provide different content to Indian viewers

They already can revamp this Sony Pal for reruns and can add it easily in DD Free Dish but these idiots is now removed Sony Mix also from the slot

It is time for them to concentrate on single or couple of channels for contents and then launch different genres.
