Vinciquerra, the newly named Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO, told about 3,000 employees that he didn't take the job because he was "interested in working on a sale."
Tony Vinciquerra made it clear to the troops Monday during an all-hands staff meeting that the asset he will run when he becomes Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman and CEO on June 1 is not for sale.
Vinciquerra told about 3,000 employees that he was "tired of M&A" and that he didn't take the job because he was "interested in working on a sale," according to some who attended the meeting at John Calley Park on the Sony lot in Culver City.
Sony Corp. CEO Kazuo Hirai reiterated the sentiments when he introduced Vinciquerra at the park on Monday.
"I will seriously put a sign on the water tower that says 'not for sale.' Don't dare me," he said as employees applauded.
