Star Plus is bringing its first international fiction format to India with the Indian adaptation of the globally popular sitcom ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’. Titled ‘Sumit Sambhal Lega’, the Indian adaptation is expected to hit the TV screens in about two months. The channel has recently acquired the rights to the official adaptation of the sitcom. The Indian adaptation in Hindi will portray Sumit as the Indian Raymond who is faced with a universal post-marriage predicament—of getting stuck in family situations to a comical extent. ‘Sumit Sambhal Lega’ will be very close to ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’, just fine-tuned to suit Indian sensibilities. Thus, to ensure the similarities, Star Plus has roped in Steve Skrovan, the original writer of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’.
