Taking its ICC Champions Trophy 2017 campaign a step forward, Star Sports, the official broadcaster of the cricket tournament, has released a new ad film titled ‘Matrabhasha’.

The film showcases cricket as the language that unifies India. The tournament will be held from 1 to 18 June.

This TVC builds on the ‘World Cup-wali feeling’ and ‘Har Koi Dekhega’ films that were launched by Star Sports for the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

The theme of Star Sports’ marketing campaign is #ChampionsKaWorldCup. The film features a montage of Indian fans accompanied by soul-stirring music.

The film journeys from Guwahati and Cherrapunji in the East to the plains of Kutch in the West, and from the mountain lands of Ladakh and Rohtang Pass in the North to the coastal belt of Kochi and Coimbatore in the South.

Covering an expanse of over 2,000 km, it took four teams of directors 28 days to bring to life the power of cricket. This tribute to cricket’s devoted fans is made even more spectacular with the voice of singer Daler Mehndi.

Speaking about his rousing song, the singer said, “Cricket, like good music, has the power to unify people from different backgrounds.

‘Matrabhasha’ brings to life this very essence of the language of cricket in India. I sang this song, which strings the film together, from my heart, and it reflects the emotions that India experiences towards this great sport.

With the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 coming up, I am looking forward to cheering Team India.”
