10:50am: The Sensex is currently trading 107.25 points higher, or up 47%, to 23,083.25 while the Nifty rises 30.55 points, or 0.44%, to 7,001.15.
10:40am: UB Group companies are trading higher after its chairman Vijay Mallya has stepped down as non-executive chairman of United Spirits Ltd, controlled by Diageo Plc., after striking a sweetheart deal with the UK firm which agreed to drop all charges of irregularities under his watch, and pay him $75 million over five years in return for getting him to go.
10:30am: United Breweries Holdings Ltd jumps 19% to Rs.21.90, Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd jumps 15% Rs.44, United Breweries Ltd rises 3% to Rs.818, United Spirits Ltd rises 6.4% to Rs.2835.
10:20am: Railway stocks are trading lower for the second session. Titagarh Wagons Ltd falls 8.7% to Rs.103.5 a piece, Texmaco Rail and Engineering Ltd falls 7.4% to Rs.110.75 and Kalindee Rail Nirman Engineers Ltd 7.2% to Rs.115.30.
10:10am: Unitech Ltd falls 0.5% to Rs.3.84, Central Bank of India rises 2% to Rs.55.85 after PTI report said that Unitech defaulted on payment of a loan instalment of Rs.38.52 crore to the Central Bank of India, prompting the state-owned banker to issue public notice of default.
