After building a diversified business empire spanning from media to infrastructure, Essel Group chairman Subhash Chandra is revisiting his roots. Ticked by his father for not paying much attention to his native Hisar, Chandra is contemplating taking the plunge into active politics by contesting the upcoming assembly elections from poll-bound Haryana.

Speaking at a public function in Hisar, Chandra revealed that he has told the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) that while he is interested in contesting elections, the final decision, however, will be taken after consulting people from his would-be constituency Hisar.

Subhash Chandra “My father told me you have achieved a lot in life and everyone in the family has also settled. Hisar’s condition has been deteriorating. Why you don’t do something for the development of this place?” Chandra said during the public meeting.

After having been associated with a number of philanthropic activities, Zee Media Corporation Limited Chairman Dr Subhash Chandra may opt to be the agent of change for the people of his hometown Hisar.

Dr Chandra, who has single-handedly created the Essel Group, which has interests in media and entertainment, packaging, infrastructure, education, precious metals and technology sectors, has indicated that he is ready for the next step in his illustrious career.

Bowing to the wishes of the people of Haryana, and of Hisar in particular, Dr Chandra announced that he may contest the upcoming assembly polls in the state.

In line with his personal commitment to ensure that all tasks he undertakes are executed to perfection, Dr Chandra said that he is seeking feedback on what are the most important needs of the constituency.

Based on the feedback, Dr Chandra would release a separate manifesto to address those issues.

Dr Chandra's entry into Haryana politics holds the potential to tectonically change the equations and would benefit Haryana given his proven prowess as a strategist par excellence.
Haryana is among the most developed states in India, it's time for the next step forward.
