The brand name DoCoMo is soon to part from Tata Docomo, a report on ET says. Tata Teleservices has decided to drop it in prior to its agreement with Japanese mobile operator NTT to use the brand ends. The agreement, which allows Tata to use the brand name Docomo will end in June 2015. The brand plans to adopt a new identity, without using the name Docomo, revealed an unidentified source. “The new brand building is likely to begin this year”, quoted the source. Till this new rebranding happens, the brand will continue its current set of advertisements.

docomo had earlier expressed that it wants to exit the Indian telecom business as it is not suited for it and hence it wont continue the JV>

Also there were reports that Indian government did not agree to TATA buying out Docomo shares, hence Docomo was planning to take the issue to International Court of Arbitration.

"In July 2014, NTT decided to exit the agreement and had asked Tata to find a new investor, to purchase their stake at $1.3 billion or a fair market price, whichever is quoted higher. Tata could not find a buyer for the said price, which invoked the NTT to file an arbitration in London Court of International Arbitration".

Indian govt didnt accept the selling of Docomo's share on what grounds bro? any insight on this?

It's like foreign company investing in Indian company , that's when FDI comes into picture and after doing business the government does not want role reversal to happen .

If companies start to leave Indian shores then inflow of dollar will reduce and also start for the rumor mongers to do their bit on Indian economy.

So once they entered then it would be difficult to exit and hencce these MNCs hesitate to enter the Indian market.

Its better not come if wants to leave, only because of NTT's partnership TATA Docomo became hit otherwise we all know what Tata Telecom was.

India is a very complicated market and if FDI group trusted on it then they should have the partnership till long and not ran from the challenges.
