News Tata Sky’s 3D movies offering this New Year’s eve

Tata Sky is all set to give its subscribers a special New Year’s eve gift. The direct-to-home (DTH) platform has set precedence in the space by bringing 3D movies to its subscribers. The movie lineup includes Avengers and Planes.
“As a Tata Sky promise, we bring the best in technology to our subscribers, now enabling high-picture quality 3D movies through our set-top boxes. With Indian audiences accustomed to quality entertainment and the off take of 3D movies in theatres on the rise, it is high time that audiences had the option to view their favorite 3D movies in the comfort of their homes,” said Tata Sky chief commercial officer Vikram Mehra.

Yes... I guess the Showcase HD channel which they are testing currently is for this purpose only and that is the reason why testing is going on for a long time now.

Will these channel be termed as Special movie channel...Charging 300 per movies?

Just got an update that the 3D movies Marvels Avengers 3D & Planes 3D will be broadcasted back to back on showcase channel lcn 284 (new channel). They will be aired on 31st Dec & 1st Jan as a special offering by Tata Sky. To watch these movies you will require a 3D TV and 3D glasses. The cost of both the movies is just Rs. 150 which means Rs. 75 each. Really happy with the pricing as, I expected it to be around Rs. 150.

I am assuming this Showcase 3D channel will be a event based channel and will be added on time to time basis and normal Showcase HD channel will continue on permanent basis
