I too migrated from d2h to tata sky a couple of months back. The picture quality is almost the same to the extent that one can hardly differentiate between the two. d2h has higher contrast in some SD channels but it does not necessarily mean quality is superior.

But where tata sky really gives d2h a run for its money is in terms of the number of channels they offer and the superior hardware. You must have encountered stb hanging issues on numerous occasions on d2h but it seldom happens in tata sky. Also, the user interface is faster and smoother.
