Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has issued a disconnection notice to Discovery Communications India for non-renewal of agreement. The two parties have failed to renew the agreement that expired on 1 August.

The DTH operator has notified its customers that Discovery HD, Discovery Kids, Discovery Science, Discovery Tamil, Discovery Turbo, Investigation Discovery, and TLC will be discontinued from the platform within 21 days from the date of issue of the notice.

Incidentally, the notice does not mention the name of the company’s flagship brand, Discovery Channel.

In a separate development, Discovery Communications India has issued disconnection notices to four multi-system operators (MSOs) in Maharashtra due to non-execution of agreement and non-payment of outstanding dues.

The notice has been issued to Welspun Maxsteel for Vikram Ispat Township, Raj Media Digital Service for parts of Karad, Raj Media Cable Network for Kumbhargaon, and Siti Cable Network for parts of Alibaug.

Meanwhile, Videocon d2h has issued a public notice informing its subscribers that devotional channel Mangal Kalash will not be available on its platform from 1 November.

Reliance Digital TV has also issued a public notice stating that Big Thrill RTL, Power of God, Ishwar TV and Sadhana TV will be discontinued from its platform.

The DTH operator said that Big Thrill RTL would be discontinued from 30 October due to non-renewal of the contract.

Big Thrill RTL was shut down after the joint venture between Reliance Broadcast Network and RTL was called off.
