Tata Sky renews contract with Technicolor for STBs

Tata Sky, the direct-to-home (DTH) player with over 8 million subscribers, has renewed its contract with Technicolor for MediaPlay set-top-boxes (STBs) till mid 2015.

The contracts are for the HD-enabled zapper (MediaPlay DSI715), which is optimised to deliver all essential features at low cost while enabling future-proof services such as video on demand, and the SD satellite zapper (MediaPlay DSI309), which has been tailored to Tata Sky’s needs and enables MPEG-4 decoding in a compact design.

They also help meet our total cost of ownership requirement, which is key for an operator with a large subscriber base like ours. if they try, will get space like dish tv, Airtel tv. But there is no willing. Soon they will join to RDTV.

If, they can't manage to get space, better sale it to some other who have the capability to acquire transponder space.

As per unconfirmed sources, soon Videocon d2h is going to add more transponders. And Tata Sky is still at the same place where it was 1 year back.

Tata Sky is investing more on advertising only... I see holdings everywhere saying Tatasky cheaper than idli and samosaa...

Tata Sky is like a call centre, 'Hire and Fire', New people come in and existing customers move out. So it will not be a cause of worry, their biggest plus point is Customer service.
Dealers are upselling TATA SKY with hiding transponder issue, they are not bothered as well. Currently they lag in regional content, if they get more space and add them they no one will be able to beat

not from last year, infact they not acquire tp from since launching date. Very dull situation, we cant expect something good from them.
