Direct-to-home (DTH) operator Tata Sky has issued two separate notices saying it will drop six channels from its platform due to non-payment of dues by the broadcasters.

On 31 July, the DTH operator had issued a notice stating that Tollywood, Sri Sankara and MBC TV would cease to be on its platform starting three weeks from the date of issue of the notice due to non-payment of dues.

In another notice issued on 4 August, the DTH company said that Indiavision News, Ashirwad Gold/Studio One HD and Reporter TV would no longer be on its platform due to breach of agreement terms.

Tollywood is a Telugu general entertainment channel owned by Aspiration Media.

Sri Sankara TV is a national multilingual spiritual channel promoted by Kamadhenu Telefilms. MBC TV is an Odia news channel promoted by Durga Prasad Mishra, a subsidiary of Micro Broadcasting Corporation Group.

Indiavision News and Reporter TV are Malayalam news channels owned respectively by Indiavision Satellite Communications and Indo Asian Channel.

Ashirwad Gold/Studio One HD is a Telugu entertainment channel owned by Ashirwad Telenetwork.

Tata Sky CEO had said that we are not in business of selling tp space to broadcasters and we believe in providing content and giving revenue to broadcasters so that they produce good content.

So why is he asking money from these channels?

Is the statement dependent on how big or small a player is?

Or is tata sky facing the pinch that other dth ops are gaining so much revenue from carriage fer chs and they r left behind.

Wait n watch tata sky will have a fight with all chs except their behena and then they will give dd and star chs at Rs. 800 per month and premium chs will include SWP HD and DD HD at Rs. 500 per month

Also i feel that behind removing sony chs is also a big reason that now that sony six has taken rights to big sporting properties so just to sideline them like they have done by not giving TEN Network chs in base packs they are trying to protect STAR. Even NEO head had alleged such bias

I guess this notice of removal of channels due to non-payment is common across all the DTH. Let us see how many pay and continue to be available on TS and how many get removed
