do u guys even know what u r atlking abt, the new fec has been done to make signal loss less. had they decreased fec from 3/4 to 7/8 , that eould have been to increase more chs. first know bfore u comment

FEC is method used to introduce reduntant datas for error correction so that receiver may identify the correct data and also not get lost.

FEC in 7/8 which produces more error in the transmission and receiver.
Redundant datas are added to avoid the loss during transmission and FECs are used to eliminate/correct the errors or loss of datas .

What is the advantage of applying FEC in 7/8 as compared to 3/4. What will they benefit by this by increasing chances of error ??

3/4 is used for higher bandwidth and 7/8 is used if satellite has lower bandwidth with high power.
Here the 7/8 is meant that for 7 bits datas, 8 bits are sent.

So, by going with the above theory , Tata Sky is transmitting channels with low bandwidth which in simple terms means compression of data during transmission.

yup, more compression

Thanks bro. But as we elaborate FEC as forward error correction, so by puncturing convolution codes to higher level, we can create space.

And if Tatasky applied the same to all TP, they would be able to create more space. Isn't it?
