Yes but it was trial and error by Star and I think they were not successful on that so they haven't tried for adding it again
I think Star has a license for ad-free channel. So this time they preferred 4K instead of HD ad-free........
Now its up to DTH to downscale channel & add it as ad-free HD channel service................But DTH launched 4K STB so they avoided launching HD ad-free service.

Is all about promoting UHD nothing else, in 4 years these HD channels will become 3rd class channels just like SD today. Currently HD used to have less ads and have premium viewers but near about future in case these broadcasters wants to make extra bucks they will definitely transfer their loyalty with UHD service to give exclusivity.
Anirudha agree with you totally .. I never expected L shaped ads in HD in just 4 years from the last WC .. Actually 80% people I think bought LED/LCD tvs and HD channels .. I just wonder for how long will UHD be ad free .. Drawback of UHD is that 4k TVs are very expensive at the moment and also after WC will they still show cricket in UHD ?? I think next will be 2016 T20 wc .. I shrudder to think how many creepy crawly ads TEN HD and SIX HD will start showing now ..

Ten HD already start showing lots of ads, during last WWE PPV they showed more ads then Ten Sports rest during Live Football they don't have a chance to cash.
Basically what I realise now that SD feed of some channels (which run same contents in both SD and HD simultaneously) are airing cotents earlier then HD, means SD channels running earlier then HD, whatever the reason ads or promo.
Also I don't think UHD TV will ever come in lower prices or manufactures needs to stop LCD and LED division also have to wait for taxation issue.
One thing which I feel that UHD channel will keep the premium tag for long and it will not everyone's cup of coffee for next 10 years.
