The Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) has allowed MSM Discovery to disconnect signals to West Bengal-based multi-system operator (MSO) Meghbela Cable & Broadband Services as the latter failed to make payments as per the tribunal’s direction. The tribunal had passed an interim order on 4 June, directing Meghbela to make an on-account payment of Rs 50 lakh (Rs 5 million) to MSM Discovery in two instalments, the first instalment of Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) payable by 15 June and the second instalment of Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) by 30 June. The tribunal had also directed MSM Discovery not to give effect to its disconnection notices and remove the on-screen displays (OSDs) running on the MSO’s network, provided the latter cleared the dues.
