JAINHITS, a known headend-in-the-sky (HITS) platform, can now breathe easy with the decks finally having been cleared for it to carry nearly 70 prominent TV channels.
While Media Pro India had earlier refused to provide signals of its TV channels to JAINHITS, the latter approached the Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT), which in an order said it found ‘no merit in the objections’ raised by Media Pro.
Accordingly, TDSAT directed the MSO to sign an interconnect agreement and supply activated decoders and viewing cards to Noida Software Technology Park for viewing its channels within the next three weeks.
Noida Software Technology Park (NSTPL) had filed a petition under sections 14 and 14A of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act 1997, seeking directions to Media Pro to “enter into an interconnect agreement with it on mutually agreed terms or in case, the two sides are unable to come to any mutually agreed terms, as per the respondent’s reference interconnect offer (RIO), and to provide to it the contents/TV channels under the latter’s control.”
In the result, the petition was allowed with costs amounting to Rs 50,000.
