Xolo has released the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for its Q700S smartphone, which was launched with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean in January.

It's worth noting that the company had released (via FoneArena) a beta version of the Android 4.4 KitKat release for the Xolo Q700S in June, and had promised a stable release in the coming weeks.

The update to Xolo Q700S is rolling-out over-the-air (OTA), and can also be manually downloaded from the official Xolo support site.

Xolo also listed instructions for updating the Q700S to Android 4.4.2 KitKat manually. Users will have to download the update file from the download link to a computer and will have to rename the file to 'update.zip' from 'update_KitKat' before transferring it to the Q700S's microSD card. Users will then have to exploit company's preloaded Xolo Care app to check for updates in the microSD card. Next, users will have to choose 'update.zip' file and then the phone will reboot automatically, installing the update on start-up.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update brings a new phone dialler application to the Q700S, and brings SMS/MMS support to Google Hangouts, amongst various other changes. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed a detailed changelog for the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update on Xolo Q700S, or any company-specific features the update will bring.

This might come as bad news for users who have resisted change and refused to upgrade from older versions of the Internet Explorer (IE) browser. From January 12, 2016, Microsoft will stop support for older versions of Internet Explorer. Via the MSDN blog, the tech giant announced its intention to push more users to run a modern browser (of course, Microsoft means the latest version of Internet Explorer).

In the same blog Microsoft outlines the combinations of operating systems and browser version combinations that won't be supported from that day: Windows Vista SP2 and Internet Explorer 9, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and Internet Explorer 9, Windows 7 SP1 and Internet Explorer 11, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1and Internet Explorer 11, Windows 8.1 and Internet Explorer 11, Windows Server 2012 and Internet Explorer 10, and Windows Server 2012 R2 and Internet Explorer 11.

Microsoft further states, "After January 12, 2016, only the most recent version of Internet Explorer available for a supported operating system will receive technical support and security updates. For example, customers using Internet Explorer 8, Internet Explorer 9, or Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 7 SP1 should migrate to Internet Explorer 11 to continue receiving security updates and technical support."

Nokia, now operated by Microsoft's devices business, has been rumoured to be working on a 'selfie' Windows Phone for some time now.

Last month, Stephen Elop reportedly showed off the unannounced selfie-focused smartphone with a 5-megapixel front camera at an internal company meeting.

Now, the alleged selfie-focused Lumia smartphone from Microsoft has been spotted in the wild. Windows Phone Central has obtained a couple of the images that purportedly shows the 'Superman' handset that is being called the Lumia 730, the anticipated successor to the popular Lumia 720. The site claims that the handset features a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, in-line with what Elop allegedly showed off.

Further, the site suggests that the alleged Lumia 730, aka 'Superman', comes with a 4.7-inch display, which will be again a bump-up from the Lumia 720's 4.3-inch display.

One of the leaked images also shows the alleged Lumia 730 running an unannounced 'Lumia Debian Red' version of Windows Phone, which WP Central speculates could be company's version of the Windows Phone 8.1 Update 1 that is expected to be available to the general public later this year.
