& any HD channel should also present in SD too
Even Sony leplex HD should be downscaled to SD for SD customers

I think the very concept of sd channels should be removed, I mean at the age where the world is moving towards 4k channels, should we still be watching tv at 480i??
I think we deserve atleast hd. Ok, Those channels which are not in hd till now can continue, but the channels which are having mirror feeds in sd must stop their sd versions.
And for people whose tv doesn't support hd, the set top boxes must be able to downscale the channels to sd for them.
That way, much of satellite space will be saved, which are otherwise wasted to transmit two copies of the same channel!


In short, hd channels should be hd only, and if someone wants sd, they can get it by changing settings in their set top box and enjoy in sd....

Yes, and just when we start worrying thinking "since hd channels take more space, we'll again need more space", the new HEVC technology comes to the rescue, using which each channel will take half of the space it takes when using mpeg4.....

Here operator can't pressurize broadcaster its upto broadcasters now, tats why broadcasters - DTH companies despite of having contracts are very selective in adding HD channels.
