The Samsung Galaxy Note II is the successor of the Galaxy Note phone launched last year. The Note II is a large-screened phone. The phone has a 5.5-inch screen. The phone is available at Rs 37,699.

It is the sixth iPhone model. Unveiled in September 2012, the phone hit the Indian market in November. The screen is bigger, but not big. It's the first time Apple has increased the screen size of the phone, from a diagonal of 3.5 inches to one of 4 inches. Apple has actually made the iPhone 5 considerably thinner. It was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 45,500.

The Galaxy S III is Samsung's flagship phone. It is the third iteration of the Galaxy S. In other words, the phone is the successor of the Samsung Galaxy S II which was launched in 2011. The Galaxy S III is light in weight and offers great features. The phone features a 4.8-inch screen and costs Rs 35,699 for the 16GB model.

The HTC Windows phone 8X runs Microsoft's latest Windows Phone 8 OS. The Windows Phone 8X is powered by Qualcomm's 1.5 GHz dual-core processor. The phone is available for around Rs 35,000.

The Micromax A90S is a neatly tailored dual SIM phone. The design of the phone is reminiscent of Samsung's highly successful Galaxy SII. The phone is powered by a 1 GHz Dual Core Processor. It has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and an 8 megapixel camera. It is available for approximately Rs 12,700.

HTC launched the HTC One X plus, a refreshed version of its flasgship HTC One X smartphone. It is armed with a 1.7 GHz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 AP37 processor and 64GB of internal storage. The phone is available online for approx. Rs 40,000.

The Sony Xperia SL is an upgraded version of the Sony Xperia S and has thus slightly better specification than its predecessor. The phone comes with a 1.7 Ghz dual core processor. It sports a 12.1 megapixel camera. The phone is available online for around Rs 28,000.

The LG optimus 4X HD is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad core- Tegra3 processor, and has a 4.7-inchTrue HD IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The phone has a 2150mAh battery, which is said to be the largest amongst quad-core smartphones. The LG Optimus 4X HD is priced at Rs 34,990.

Though the phone does not offer high-end features like Apple iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy SII, but there are two reasons which bring this phone to the list of top 10 phones of the year 2012. Firstly, it is a Windows Phone with a budget price tag. Secondly, it offer quality features at its price point.

The Nokia 808 PureView is not at all a great phone, but still it is one of the top 10 launches. The only reason that brings it to the list is its technology used in the camera. The phone sports a 41 megapixel camera sensor with Carl Zeiss optics. It is the only phone with such a large sensor.
