News Triple Talaq Petitioner Ishrat Jahan Joins BJP

Kolkata: Ishrat Jahan, one of the petitioners in the triple talaq case, has joined the BJP, the party's state unit general secretary Sayantan Basu said on Sunday.

"Ishrat Jahan joined the BJP at our Howrah office yesterday (Friday)," Basu told PTI.

Sources said Ishrat was felicitated by the Howrah BJP unit on Friday and inducted into the party. Basu said a state-level programme to felicitate her was yet to be organised.

I see no clarity in putting the person behind bars on uttering 3 T. instead ban polygamy and made that punishable offence.

Its upto 3 term jail or fine, and its not that every person who gives 3T will be in jail for 3 years.

It will act as a deterant and will stop the Muslim men from giving 3T. There are other ways to give divorce like the 3 month talaq.

And for polygamy, u feel our so called secular parties will support ??? For 3T we are seeing so much protest. Agreed that one day polygamy will be also banned and UCC will be made applicable.
